CTOnews.com, June 16 (Xinhua)-- Volkswagen plans to achieve a 6.5% return on sales through its global performance plan "ACCELERATE FORWARD automotive Road to 6.5" to ensure continued investment in technology and jobs in the future.

At the heart of the "ACCELERATE FORWARD Road to 6.5" program is expected to increase profits by about 10 billion euros (currently about 77.7 billion yuan) by 2026 and continue to achieve 6.5 per cent return on sales. The scheme is divided into two levels:

Level 1: covers all the main areas of action of the brand, namely management, technical research and development, material costs, products, price / price mix, vehicle manufacturing, and sales and quality. In order to achieve the planned overall cost and revenue targets, there will be sub-objectives and supporting measures in each area of action.

Level 2: the initiatives of the program will follow a new collaborative approach, that is, cross-cutting flagship projects will ensure efficiency and increase profits. The focus is on reducing operational complexity, reducing the number of models, simplifying sales models, eliminating unnecessary processes, and optimizing products and production on both platforms-the horizontal engine Modular platform (MQB) and the Modular Electric platform (MEB).

Volkswagen passenger car brand CEO Shi Wentao said Volkswagen would focus on core models and that smaller models such as the Arteon would be discontinued.

It is reported that the performance plan will be implemented by the Project Management Office (PMO), the Volkswagen brand management board will be fully responsible for the plan, and the members of the management board will be responsible for different areas of action and flagship projects, and the specific arrangements will be determined after consultation with employee representatives in mid-September. Volkswagen plans to launch and implement the details and supporting measures of the project in October this year, and all related work will reach a formal agreement after full consultation with employee representatives.
