CTOnews.com, June 16 (Xinhua) Audi CEO Marcus Dussmann (Markus Duesmann) said in an interview with Reuters yesterday that Audi must speed up the development of new models to meet the surge in global demand for electric vehicles, especially in China.

▲ source: Audi Dussman says the company needs new R & D processes to shorten platform interconnection and software production cycles: "We are reviewing our entire R & D process and taking a closer look at how Chinese manufacturers do this."

"I expect our R & D cycle to be close to 30 months over time, compared with about 48 months now," Dusman added.

In response to the rapid development of new energy vehicles, Dusman said: "by 2030, the share of pure electric vehicles in the high-end car market should reach 60% and 70%, depending on the situation in different regions. But when the market suddenly changes so fast, we have to respond."

This shift may happen faster in China, but Audi's d sales in the world's largest car market are lower than expected. The reason, Dussman said frankly, is that "we still haven't launched the best car that can meet the needs of the Chinese market." From January to March, Audi sold more than 3000 electric vehicles in China.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Audi plans not to launch any new fuel models from 2026. However, Audi is slow in the car-engine system. Unlike BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Audi has not made any major expansion of its model range in the past two years, but the new Q6 e-tron has been delayed because of lagging software development.
