CTOnews.com, June 16 (Xinhua) Mercedes-Benz partner ProLogium demonstrated a new solid-state battery structure called LLCB at the recent EES Expo after introducing its first 100% solid-state battery with silicon oxide anode, which can provide higher energy density.

The full name of LLCB battery is Large-footprint Lithium Ceramic Battery (CTOnews.com Note: large-size lithium ceramic battery), which adopts flat shape and uses the high thermal conductivity of ceramic electrolyte to provide a compact heat dissipation system, which greatly increases the volume density of the new solid-state battery.

Simon Wu, assistant vice president of the ProLogium Technology Product Center, said that under the same volume of mainstream 2170 electric vehicles, the volume energy density of the LLCB battery pack can be nearly doubled; with the same total energy, the weight of the LLCB battery pack can be reduced by up to 115kg.

The LLCB production process will produce less waste on substrate materials, reduce the number of batteries will require fewer raw materials, and improve sustainability and affordability.

The agency says that compared with the Model Y, which uses 2170 batteries, the LLCB battery can have a range of up to 600km (CTOnews.com Note: about 965.61 km).

ProLogium recently announced the construction of a 5.2 billion euro solid-state battery plant in France, which will test new LLCB battery samples with European automakers such as Mercedes-Benz later this year.
