Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, June 16 (Xinhua)-- Intel announced that it has found its first major customer, the U.S. Department of Energy, for innovative immersion cooling technology. Intel has currently received $1.71 million in start-up funding to develop and implement 2000W CPU radiators for the U.S. Department of Energy over the next three years.

Intel announced in April that it was developing a highly innovative immersion cooling technology that could effectively dissipate 2000W CPU. Under the new contract, the technology will be deployed in the U.S. Department of Energy's data center in the future.

Intel is currently supported by the Advanced Research projects Agency (ARPA-E) of the U.S. Department of Energy and is one of the 15 members of the (COOLERCHIPS) program. CTOnews.com Note: COOLERCHIPS plans to develop high-performance, energy-efficient data center cooling solutions for the U.S. Department of Energy's information processing systems.

Intel says the newly developed immersion cooling technology can not only effectively dissipate heat for 2000W CPU, but also save more energy than mainstream data center cooling systems.

Intel points out that the development team is currently working to improve the energy efficiency of the cooling system. The challenge is to increase the heat dissipation coefficient by more than 2.5 times from the energy shown by current cooling technologies of 0.025 degrees Celsius per watt.
