CTOnews.com, June 16, according to Reuters, SK Signet, a subsidiary of South Korea's SK Group in charge of charger production in the United States, has announced that it will launch chargers that meet Tesla's North American charging Standard (NACS) within this year.

▲ Touyuan Pixabay has previously been making chargers that support the combined charging system (CCS), a standard supported by manufacturers such as Volkswagen and Hyundai. With Ford and General Motors successively switching to the embrace of NACS, SK Signet began to worry that if it only supported the CCS standard, it might lose important customers, including charging station operators such as Electrify America and EVgo.

SK Signet says it has begun developing an ultra-fast charger that is compatible with both NACS and CCS standards. The White House said last week that charging stations for electric vehicles that support both standards are eligible for billions of dollars in federal subsidies. The White House wants to stimulate the deployment of hundreds of thousands of chargers across the country, which it sees as part of the unavailability of electric vehicles.

Seung-June Oh, president of SK Signet America, said: "SK Signet will continue to expand its support for different electric vehicle charging protocols, including NACS standards, and the company will continue to help build a strong charging network in the United States."

CTOnews.com noted that SK Signet, acquired by South Korea's SK Group in 2021, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of charging equipment. Earlier this month, the company opened its first American manufacturing center in Texas, which can produce more than 10000 ultra-fast chargers a year.
