Liu Jingxiang, an associate researcher from Malaysia at the University of Science and Technology of China, told Science and Technology Daily that it is precisely because "Magpie Bridge" serves as a communication station to realize data transmission and communication between the earth and the moon. Chang'e-4 probe has become the first probe to successfully make a soft landing on the far side of the moon, laying the foundation for future deep space exploration, such as the later Chang'e-6, which will carry out the sampling and return mission on the far side of the moon.

Liu Jingxiang also mentioned that at present, China has agreed to the request of NASA and other national aerospace agencies to use Magpie Bridge to help it complete its future lunar exploration mission.

According to CTOnews.com, China has announced that it will launch the Magpie Bridge II relay satellite in 2024 to provide relay communication services for the follow-up missions of Chang'e 6, 7 and 8.

To put it simply, Magpie Bridge relay satellite belongs to a new type of satellite-space communication relay satellite. Functionally, it belongs to communication signal relay satellite. But the difference is that it is not for the ground communication service, but for the space communication service. It belongs to the communication guarantee satellite in the lunar exploration project, and provides the relay communication between the earth and the moon, that is to say, the communication between the ground control center and the lunar lander depends on it.

According to reports, compared with the Chang'e 4 relay star "Magpie Bridge", the Magpie Bridge II relay star, which will be launched next year, will have a greater improvement in its overall level and capability, providing communication support for Chang'e-6 to carry out lunar sample collection missions on the far side of the moon.

In fact, China has always been open to international cooperation in lunar exploration, such as launching the International Lunar Research Station project with the Russian National Aerospace Corporation in 2021.

During the research period of the project, Liu Jingxiang was able to cooperate with researchers from many countries and publish relevant research results. In his view, human society should work together to transcend national boundaries, rather than adopt a closed-door policy to unravel the mysteries of outer space.
