CTOnews.com, June 15, Samsung Electronics announced yesterday that the arrhythmia Notification (IHRN) feature on Samsung's Health Monitoring app (Samsung Health Monitor) will be launched this summer in 13 countries and regions, including the United States, South Korea, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Costa Rica, Dominica, Ecuador, Georgia, Guatemala, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Panama and the United Arab Emirates.

▲ image source Samsung said that after users activate this function in the Samsung health monitoring application, the system will check for abnormal heart rhythm in the background through Galaxy Watch's bioactive sensor. If multiple abnormalities are detected continuously, Galaxy Watch will warn users of possible atrial fibrillation (AFib) and prompt them to use watches for more accurate electrocardiographic (ECG) measurements.

Samsung said that since its launch in 2020, the Samsung health monitoring app has expanded to 74 markets around the world, and more than 15 million Galaxy Watch users are using the app to track blood pressure and electrocardiograms. The arrhythmia notification feature will be available on Galaxy Watch devices released later this year as part of the newly launched One UI 5 Watch, and then extended to previous Watch 4 series and Watch 5 series devices.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Samsung's new service was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in May and by South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) last week. At the same time, the service does not replace traditional medical diagnosis, nor does it apply to users under the age of 22 or known arrhythmias other than AFib.
