CTOnews.com Krafton announced yesterday that it will launch a new independent studio, ReLU Games, on July 1 and appoint Kim Min Jung, who has been overseeing Krafton's Special Project 2, as its representative director. ReLU Games will be Krafton's 11th independent studio and will focus on developing games using deep learning techniques.

Krafton ReLU Games originated from Krafton's internal incubation project Special Project 2 launched in 2020. Krafton said he plans to use the deep learning-related knowledge accumulated in the project over the past three years to drive follow-up game development at ReLU Games.

KraftonReLU Games 'first game has been named FOONDA: AI Puzzle, which will generate puzzle levels through deep learning technology, bringing players a variety of personalized brain-burning game experiences, and is expected to be released in the third quarter of this year. ReLU Games is also working on other deep learning-based game projects, such as Project Orchestra, which will use speech recognition.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Krafton had said in its earnings report that it would strengthen its production and distribution capabilities and continue to invest in new businesses such as deep learning and meta-universe in 2023.
