CTOnews.com June 15, Sony PS subscription business director Nick Maguire said in a recent interview with Gamesindustry that Sony does not plan to add new first-party games to the PS + subscription service, but will continue to add old games that have been released for months.

"We are satisfied with the current strategy, and adding late-life games to PS+, means that they can attract more players a year or even two years after their release," Maguire said. "We find that users are still excited and eager to try these games. It is effective for us to keep the new games out of the PS+ service, which will be our strategy to continue."

Unlike Sony, Microsoft's Xbox Game pass (XGP) service has always given priority to adding new first-party games, such as Starry Sky and Ultimate Speed: Motorsport. Sony's PS + service has only a small number of debuts in games, such as Stray.

However, Maguire seems open to changing the strategy in the future, saying: "We have been studying what is the right strategy. How will player habits evolve? how can we ensure that services meet these future habits? I can't say more at the moment, but we are watching closely and considering the role that PS + can play in the future."

CTOnews.com previously reported that Sony's PS division today announced the expansion of PS+ Premium services to provide cloud gaming services for supported PS5 games.
