CTOnews.com June 14, Audi recently announced that from September this year, the company's electric SUV Q4 e-tron windshield will be made of environmentally friendly materials containing up to 30% recycled vehicle glass.

To this end, Audi will fully launch the glass recycling pilot project "GlassLoop", which will also make Audi the first luxury car manufacturer to establish a glass recycling mechanism with its partners.

▲ source Audi official website, at present, irreparable windows (mainly windshields and panoramic skylights) have been used for less stringent quality components, such as glass bottles and insulation, the so-called "downward circulation". Audi's pilot project has proved for the first time that recycled glass has the same quality as new glass.

According to Audi, under the project, unrepairable windows will first be broken into small pieces, and then all non-glass materials (such as glue residue) will be removed. The partner company melts the resulting glass particles and sends them into the production line of automobile flat glass, which will contain 30% recycled window materials.

Audi has been preparing with its partners for a year to ensure that there are enough raw materials for the next mass production. According to the plan, the windshield produced in this way will be used in Audi's pure electric SUV Q4 e-tron from September 2023.

According to previous reports from CTOnews.com, Audi has announced that it will launch 20 new cars by 2025, half of which will be electric vehicles, and will only launch new electric vehicles worldwide from 2026.
