Musk promoted the streamlining of Twitter a long time ago. I think these changes are generally good. His actions made me and many people in the industry start to think, have we done enough? Can we make our company better by implementing some of the same principles? I also think that these changes he has made may be good for the industry as a whole. Because my feeling is that there are a lot of other people who think these changes are good, but they are ashamed to express them.

CTOnews.com notes that Musk has cut the total number of Twitter employees from about 7800 to about 1000 today since buying Twitter in October 2022. In a video address last month, Musk said Twitter had "a lot of people doing things that don't seem to have much value" before the layoffs.

Zuckerberg has also made several rounds of layoffs at Meta in the past eight months. He called 2023 the "year of efficiency" for Meta. Asked about the layoffs, Mr Zuckerberg pointed out that Meta had refocused on high-quality technology projects and said it wanted to "empower engineers" to improve Meta's efficiency and reduce "additional costs".
