CTOnews.com, June 14 (Xinhua)-- Beatles member Paul McCartney, who is approaching his 81st birthday, said yesterday that the band will release a new single this year with the help of AI, which will be the band's "last song", according to BBC.

▲ Picture Source Pexels McCartney said that with the help of AI technology, they extracted John Lennon's voice and continued to write an unfinished single by the band in the late 1970s.

The Beatles released two new songs "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love" in 1995 and 1996, which are also from Lennon's unfinished work. But limited to the technology at that time, they could not extract only Lennon's voice from a piano accompaniment mono demo, so they adopted the scheme of superimposing the performance of the living members of the Beatles on the demo.

Today, thanks to advanced AI technology, the production team can extract Lennon's voice and change the melody or lyrics as needed. McCartney didn't say which AI technology was used in the new song.

Although the name of the new song has not yet been determined, many avid Beatles fans want it to be "Now and Then". A demo of the song was written in the late 1970s and probably appeared on a tape sent by Lennon's widow Yoko Ono to McCartney in 1994. However, McCartney has said that the song was not included in the selection because the band guitarist George Harrison did not like it.

CTOnews.com checked public sources and learned that Lennon was shot in front of his home in New York in 1980, while Harrison died in 2001 after years of fighting cancer. The only surviving members of the Beatles are McCartney and 83-year-old drummer Ringo Starr.
