According to the latest report from market research firm Counterpoint, Huawei's home-grown operating system Hongmeng will gain 2 per cent of the market share (globally) in 2020, surpassing Linux to become the fifth largest operating system in the world.

Counterpoint also pointed out that Hongmeng's share of the Chinese market is expected to reach 0.1 per cent by the end of 2019 and 5 per cent by the end of next year, while Hongmeng OS devices account for 0.03 per cent of all Huawei equipment shipped this year.

According to the statistics given in the report, the current global share of operating systems is: Android 39%, Windows 35%, iOS 13.87%, macOS 5.92%, Linux 0.77%.

On August 9 this year, Huawei officially launched Hongmeng system, which is used in Huawei and Glory Smart screen products. Hongmeng 2.0 system will be available in 2020, and landing products include innovative domestic PC, watches / bracelets and car phones. Hongmeng OS 3.0 will be available in 2021, mainly for speakers and headphones, and for more devices such as VR glasses in 2022.
