CTOnews.com, June 14 (Xinhua)-- Apple released its latest Apple Watch operating system, watchOS 10, at the 2023 Global developer Conference, bringing many new features and interface improvements to users. But in addition to the content mentioned by Apple, there are other new features hidden in the entire system. One of the interesting changes is that users can now add bank cards to Apple Pay directly on Apple Watch without using iPhone.

Previously, users had to add new cards to Apple Pay through the Watch app on iPhone, but in watchOS 10, the Wallet app on Apple Watch added a "add card" button. Users only need to click this button to complete the Apple Pay setup process on Apple Watch. Users can enter the credit card number, expiration date and security code directly on the watch. If the user's bank provides SMS or phone authentication instead of using the bank's application, you do not need iPhone to complete the setup.

This is a small but important update, and CTOnews.com notes that Apple has been gradually reducing Apple Watch's dependence on iPhone over the past few years. For example, users can access watchOS settings directly on the watch, while models with cellular network capabilities can also make phone calls and listen to music online without a mobile phone. Of course, the Apple Watch still needs to be paired with the iPhone to work, but Apple seems to want users to do more without taking out their phones.

In addition to the new interface, watchOS 10 also brings new features, including widgets that can be accessed from any dial, new options for monitoring cycling, mental health tracking, group FaceTime audio, NameDrop and more. WatchOS 10 will be available to all users this fall, while a public beta version is expected to be launched in July, Apple said.
