CTOnews.com, June 13, the contemporary Intel CPU is not actually as effective as it should be in the Linux environment, and Intel itself is aware of this, so engineers have been optimizing the performance of Intel CPU under Linux.

A few days ago, Intel launched a v2 version of the cluster scheduling patch, claiming that engineers have enhanced the level of process scheduling under Linux by developing new cluster scheduling code, which can improve the performance of Intel's 12th generation and later CPU on Linux.

▲ source Intel said that there are some problems with CPU cluster scheduling in the version 5.16 of Linux in 2021. Therefore, "there is a certain loss of performance of 12-generation Intel processors under Linux".

Intel said that "engineers are working to improve the load balance between P and E cores and provide further kernel fixes to ensure that Intel CPU of generation 12 and beyond can perform as well as it should have in Linux."

CTOnews.com learned from the Intel report that in the v2 version of the cluster scheduling patch environment, the test performance improved by about 1.36%, and the multithreaded workload decreased by 2%. Judging from the current situation, Intel engineers still have a long way to go in optimizing scheduling.
