In an open letter on the matter, Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors said the company's actions to this end would include, but are not limited to, the closure or withdrawal of certain studios, as well as the termination or suspension of some ongoing game development projects. At the same time, the company will reduce its third-party distribution business and pay more attention to internal IP.

Lars also confirmed that all announced important games in research will still be released as planned, and that almost all of the games in research that will be cut are unannounced projects.

At the end of May, Embracer suddenly announced the collapse of a long-awaited blockbuster deal, but the company declined to disclose the subject and content of the deal, saying only that the transaction could be worth $2 billion (currently about 14.3 billion yuan). Affected by the news, the company's share price plunged 40% at one point. According to outside analysis, the announcement of the restructuring plan may also be some kind of forced response to the pressure on the share price.

In addition to the Tomb Raider series, Embracer also holds the rights to the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, and will also launch games such as Warhammer 40K: star Warrior 2 and Home 3. At the end of May, the company lowered its profit outlook for this year to 7 billion-9 billion Swedish kronor (currently about 4.653 billion-5.983 billion yuan).
