The NAS offers six 3.5-inch HDD and two 2.5-inch SSD hard drive bits, runs on the Intel Lexus Atom C5125 processor (CTOnews.com Note: 2.8GHz eight-core design), a 8GB DDR4 memory, and supports Intel QAT and SR-IOV technologies to help enterprises deploy data storage and virtualization environments. It is reported that TS-855X has also passed the virtual storage certification of VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.

In addition, the product supports up to 128 GB DDR4 memory and provides dual M.2 PCIe NVMe slots, supports SSD cache, SSD storage pool, or Qtier auto-tiered storage, and can expand up to 48 additional hard drives through TL-R1620Sep-RP / TL-R1220Sep-RP JBOD, comes standard with the QTS operating system, and can be switched to a ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system as needed.

It is also equipped with dual 2.5GbE and a single 10GbE port, where dual 2.5GbE ports also support SMB multichannel technology up to 5 Gbps. It is worth mentioning that it also provides two PCIe Gen 3 slots, which can be extended by installing compatible PCIe cards, 5/10/25GbE network cards, QM2 cards, or fiber optic cards.

In other ways, the NAS also has 3x USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) and a USB 2.0 interface.
