For the entire AR / VR industry, Apple's release of Vision Pro headset is of great significance. On the one hand, it is expected to accelerate the innovation of AR / VR devices, on the other hand, it will also promote the evolution of virtual glasses from entertainment tools to productivity tools.

However, in the face of the high price of Apple's Vision Pro and more than half a year before its official launch, it is unknown when it will enter the domestic market, what the price will be, and whether the product will be fried or paddled.

Of course, it is certain that spatial computing will be the next breakthrough for AR / VR products.

Shortly after the release of Apple's Vision Pro headset, XREAL (formerly Nreal), China's leading AR glasses brand, officially released a new hardware product-XREAL Beam screen box.

According to the official description, XREAL Beam is a "AR space screen" hardware solution for XREAL Air glasses. It also puts forward the concept of "space computing" and claims that this is the first space computing terminal in the AR industry to achieve 3DoF hovering in space.

Unlike Apple's Vision Pro head display, the XREAL Beam, a device used to enhance the space screen experience of XREAL Air glasses, costs only 799 yuan, while it costs only 3098 yuan with an XREAL Air+XREAL Beam universal set.

Based on the chip computing power, self-developed spatial perception algorithm and EIS electronic anti-shake algorithm, XREAL Beam has created an original "AR spatial screen" in the industry, which brings three spatial display modes of "hover, head and floating window" to adapt to the whole scene of life, and realizes the free adjustment of the position / size / far and near of the screen screen in space.

According to official data, AR spatial screen is a spatial display solution based on XREAL's spatial computing power innovation, which is different from the current mainstream 0DoF screen casting solutions in the industry, such as the problems that the screen can not be fixed, can not be adjusted, and is easy to jitter. Based on the self-developed spatial perception algorithm and EIS electronic anti-shake algorithm, XREAL Beam innovatively launched three screen modes: hover, head, and floating window.

Among them, in hover mode, the screen is fixed in the air with the ability of 3DoF (degree of freedom). Users wear XREAL Air. Under the premise that the body remains stable, no matter the head rotates or shakes at any angle, the screen will steadily hover in place and restore the real look and feel of the physical screen, which will not only experience more natural and immersive, but also easy to interact with the real world.

In hover mode, XREAL Beam breaks the shackles of the physical screen and realizes the free adjustment of screen position / size / distance. On the one hand, XREAL Beam can accurately sense the head displacement. When the head orientation changes, click the reset button, and the screen will automatically adjust to the front of the line of sight. On the other hand, XREAL Beam also supports adjusting the size (28in-330in) and distance (1.2m-10m) of the screen, respectively, so that users can customize the most comfortable state of the screen.

Head mode: based on the somersault mode, the head-level anti-shaking function is added, and the screen size can be adjusted according to the heart. In the traffic scene, despite the bumpy road conditions, the picture remains motionless, saying goodbye to the carsickness problem caused by watching physical screens in the past. At the same time, when the vehicle changes direction and turns, the picture always follows the line of sight smoothly.

Floating window mode: the screen will be placed in the corner of the user's line of sight in the form of a small window, so that the user can take into account the picture in the small screen and the external environment at the same time.

XREAL Beam supports both wireless and wired connections, and officials say it is compatible with almost all smartphones, tablets and laptops, as well as game handsets and game consoles.

XREAL Beam wireless connection supports three standard wireless screen launch protocols of AirPlay, DLNA and Miracast, fully adapting to iOS, Android, Harmony and Windows system terminal devices; for game handheld / host, XREAL Beam is equipped with DP in interface, and users can connect through C to C cable (Switch / SteamDeck / Win handset) that supports DP transmission or video transfer line (PS / Xbox) from HDMI to Type-C.

The XREAL Beam weighs only 153g and can be mastered with a compact body. It is equipped with a large 4870mAh battery and a DP In input interface to support charging while using. XREAL Beam also works deeply with DTS to create a more immersive 3D "spatial sound field".

At the same time, XREAL launched the XREAL Air+XREAL Beam all-around set at the same time. In terms of price, the first sale period of XREAL Beam is 799 yuan, and the price of XREAL Air+XREAL Beam all-around set is 3098 yuan. The XREAL Beam and all-around kit will be launched simultaneously at JD.com Mall and Tmall Mall on June 13, and the pre-sale will be officially launched on June 25.

Data show that XREAL was founded in 2017 (formerly Nreal, announced in May this year to adopt XREAL as a new brand name, and launched a number of product upgrades).

Last year, XREAL launched two consumer AR glasses, XREAL X and XREAL Air, in China. According to IDC's 2022 AR / VR report, XREAL has become the number one brand by shipments in the AR industry in 2022 with a score of 98000 units.
