This feature sounds attractive, but after a recent update to Microsoft's Edge Canary version, users found that the feature would send links to images to Microsoft instead of enhancing them on local devices, raising privacy concerns.

Microsoft Edge has previously been questioned for a vulnerability that caused users' browsing history to be leaked to the Bing search engine. Now users may need to turn off this image enhancement to ensure that Edge does not send every picture they browse online to Microsoft. Moreover, this feature is enabled by default, that is, many users do not know that they have agreed to the browser to send images to Microsoft for processing and enhancement.

If you want to turn off this feature, you can follow these steps:

Start Microsoft Edge and open the main menu.

Click Settings > Privacy, search and Services.

Scroll down to turn off the "enhance Image in Microsoft Edge" switch.

Microsoft says it is working to make this feature more flexible, and future Edge updates will allow users to choose a more balanced approach and specify which sites are not processed. If you use Microsoft Edge Canary, click Settings > Privacy, search and Services > to enhance images in Microsoft Edge, and then click the add button next to the "never enhance images for these sites" list.

CTOnews.com notes that Microsoft Edge also has another AI-based feature called Video Super Resolution (Video Super Resolution), which makes low-resolution videos clearer and more nuanced, but it uses separate graphics cards on local devices for processing, rather than sending content to Microsoft.
