Users can use the outer screen to complete many operations in the folded state, such as typing, voice input, browsing the web, viewing the calendar and so on.

Most of Samsung's apps have been optimized for external screens, and not only that, according to Sammobile, Google Apps has also been specifically optimized for Galaxy Z Flip 5's external screens. For example, Google Maps can display navigation information on the outer screen, and users can view the route without expanding their phone. Other Google applications, such as messaging and YouTube, also support off-screen operations. Users can send text messages, watch videos and so on in a folded state.

The cooperation between Samsung and Google is not surprising. Since Samsung launched its first folding phone, the two companies have been working closely together to optimize Android systems and applications for Samsung's folding phone. Google Meet, for example, supports Galaxy Z Flip's Flex mode.

Although the outer screen of Galaxy Z Flip 5 can not provide the complete Android system experience as the outer screen of Galaxy Z Fold 5, it still brings more convenience and possibility for users.
