CTOnews.com, June 13 (Xinhua) Google CEO Sandal Pichai (Sundar Pichai) said he was excited about the potential of Apple's Vision Pro and other technologies that could create a more immersive computing experience. He also said that although he has not yet tried the $3499 headset, Google has always believed that computing technology will evolve to devices other than smartphones.

Pichai made the comments in a recent interview with Bloomberg, in which he talked about artificial intelligence, the recent downturn in Silicon Valley and other topics. Asked if Google would cut further jobs, Pichai said the company would continue to work hard to improve its efficiency. In January, Google laid off 12000 employees and reduced its business with a large number of contract workers.

It was also asked whether Google needed to change its strategy for releasing new research after OpenAI's use of some of Google's technologies became a competitive threat. It was previously reported that as Google began to integrate artificial intelligence into its product suite, Google's internal leadership was reconsidering how many cutting-edge artificial intelligence research would be published in academic journals. In an interview with Bloomberg, Pichai said, "in some marginal cases, when some research results are translated into products, we will consider what is our proprietary technology." However, he added that he expected Google to continue to actively publish results in the field of artificial intelligence.

Back in 2014, the company launched a virtual reality head display made of cardboard, in which users can plug their smartphones into the display screen. Google has since introduced more virtual reality headsets, but has largely abandoned the market to focus on augmented reality experiences within its apps, such as Google Lens.

Google also created the infamous Google Glass (Google Glass), an expensive, intrusive augmented reality glasses with a built-in camera to capture its surroundings. After years of focusing on the enterprise market, Google recently announced that it would stop selling the glasses.

Another technology executive, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg (Mark Zuckerberg), reportedly attacked Apple's Vision Pro Touxian at a full meeting last week, saying the price was too high and inconsistent with Meta's vision of virtual reality. Meta is the manufacturer of Quest series headsets and is the market leader in this field.
