Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com June 12 news, according to Japan's "Yomiuri Shimbun" reported that artificial intelligence (AI) and drones into school security attempts are spreading in Japan. Both universities and schools are considering this digital transformation to improve security efficiency and save labor.
In April, Ritsumeikan University introduced a comprehensive AI security system at its campus in Ibaraki, Osaka, that uses AI to analyze surveillance video images and issue timely warnings. About 50 of the campus's current 200 cameras are compatible with the system, which automatically detects suspicious people and immediately sends images to security personnel in the central monitoring room.
Security personnel say that with the introduction of the system, they no longer have to focus all their energy on checking surveillance images, which makes their work more efficient. In addition, the campus has introduced robots to patrol buildings.
At Ritsumeikan University's Biwako Kusatsu Campus and Kinki University's Higashiosaka Campus, drone security tests are being conducted. These drones can reach their destinations quickly and have a wide radiation range.
In Japan, in addition to big companies such as Mitsubishi Electric and Konica Minolta, there are start-ups such as i-Pro and Secure.
According to Tokyo-based i-Pro, due to the proliferation of guns, many schools in the United States have more advanced security measures than Japan, and each school basically has 30 to 50 cameras connected to AI systems. When AI detects suspicious people moving nearby, it quickly closes the school gate to prevent intrusion, and police and private security guards are automatically notified to rush to the school.
Another Tokyo-based startup, Ajira, has developed a smaller AI surveillance system that limits the number of cameras to 20, making it easy to deploy in Japanese elementary and secondary schools. "I hope to eventually introduce these latest security technologies to elementary, junior high and high schools affiliated to Ritsumeikan University, and to be able to extend them to schools nationwide," said Natsuya Takuya of Ritsumeikan University's Public Relations Department. "
CTOnews.com previously reported that Japan is facing a severe labor supply situation due to problems such as an aging population and a declining birth rate, so the Japanese government and the private sector have been discussing the possibility of using AI to solve the labor shortage.
