Gomez used to work as an AI researcher at Google. In 2017, Gomez and a group of colleagues co-authored a paper called "Attention Is All You Need". Later, Gomez changed jobs from Google and founded his own Cohere company.

It is reported that Cohere's current round of financing is led by Inovia, followed by Nvidia, Oracle, Salesforce Ventures and other companies. Cohere is currently valued at $2.2 billion (currently about 15.686 billion yuan).
