This year's game market has changed a lot. The high-end market generally adopts the HX series processor with the same core as desktop, and its performance has reached a new high. The mainstream price segment still uses the H45 series processor. Intel's products at mainstream price points are mainly i7- 13700H and i9- 13900H. AMD has the R7- 7840H and R9- 7940H.
So this year's mainstream price segment which camp processor is more suitable for the game this? CTOnews.com found two top-tier game books at similar prices. One is the Savior Y7000P 2023 and the other is the Tianxuan 4 Sharp Dragon Edition. They are equipped with i7- 13700H processor and R9- 7940H respectively to see who performs better. If the i7 can beat the R9, then the i9 will definitely perform better. The following is a summary of the configuration of the two computers:
First of all, let me introduce the hardware specifications of the two processors. Core i7- 13700H adopts Raptor Lake architecture, still 14 cores, 20 threads, 6 performance cores, 8 performance cores, core frequency up to 5.0GHz, TDP of 45W, 24MB L3 cache. Compared with the previous generation i7- 12700H, the maximum burst frequency is 0.3GHz higher. In addition to performance improvements, Intel has also focused on improving energy efficiency performance at low power consumption.
Next we introduce AMD's Ryzen R9- 7940H. The R9- 7940H is built using the latest TSMC 4nm process. It is still 8 cores and 16 threads, the main frequency is 4.0GHz, the core frequency is 5.2GHz, the level 3 cache is still 16MB, and the TDP power consumption is also 45W. The biggest highlight of the R9- 7940H is that it upgrades AMD's latest Zen 4 architecture, and the more advanced TSMC 4nm process can also bring better power consumption ratio. In addition, its RDNA3 nuclear display also has nearly double the performance compared to Xe nuclear display.
From the above theoretical parameters, the two processors can be described as having their own merits. The i7- 13700H benefits from a hybrid architecture with more cores and a larger L3 cache. The R9- 7940H has a higher single core frequency, more advanced manufacturing process and stronger nuclear display. However, in the game this performance release relatively abundant scene, the specific performance gap we still have to pass the actual running points and game frame number test to give a conclusion.
As mentioned earlier, the TDP of the Core i7- 13700H and R9- 7940H are both 45W, but for various reasons, the actual power consumption in our toaster test is still very different. On the Savior Y7000P 2023, the single-baked FPU can be maintained at around 90W and the temperature is about 89℃.
And Tianxuan 4 sharp dragon version is stable at 78W, 95℃. It's obvious it hit the temperature wall and caused the frequency drop. It seems that the heat accumulation problem of Ryzen processor has not been solved, which affects the performance release to a large extent. However, thanks to the higher energy efficiency ratio, there is not too much frequency reduction at this time.
Let's take a look at the double bake performance of both computers. This test can detect the extreme performance release of the machine mold. The actual test results of the Y7000P double bake are 40+ 120W, the performance of the whole machine is released 160W, and the power consumption distribution is relatively reasonable.
The performance release of Tianxuan 4 Sharp Dragon Edition is 22+ 138W, which is also 160W, but the performance release is more biased towards graphics card priority. However, the author believes that this power distribution method is not very reasonable. Because the RTX 40 series GPU's power consumption ratio is greatly improved. RTX4060 can release most of its performance at about 100W, instead of forcibly pursuing 140W "full blood" like RTX30 series. The extra power consumption can now be allocated to the CPU. Therefore, the author thinks that the 40+120W of the rescuer is more reasonable.
The author also carried out some theoretical running points of CPU, namely CPU-Z, R20, R23 and 3Dmark. In each project, i7- 13700H is leading, but the leading range is not consistent. CPU-Z's single core can lead up to 20%, while CineBench's single core is basically consistent. The advantage of multicore is about 5%.
Game comparison In terms of theoretical data, the i7- 13700H powered by the Savior Y7000P2023 won without suspense with strong single-core performance and advanced hybrid architecture. So what happens in the actual gaming experience? Next, we will compare the game. All games will be turned on to the highest resolution of 2.5K resolution, DLSS balance will be turned on if DLSS is available, DLSS 3 will be turned on if DLSS 3 is supported.
Let's first take a look at the performance in the high-frame e-sports game. In CS:GO, the number of frames of the savior Y7000P running BenchMark is 288 frames, which can run full of this e-sports screen.
On the other hand, Tian Xuan 4's frame count averaged 248 frames, which was quite a bit behind.
In another high-frame e-sports game, League of Heroes, the average frame rate of the Savior Y900P line fluctuates around 240-260 frames, and the game experience is equally smooth.

We also tested Tomb Raider: Shadow's BenchMark, and the average frame count of the Savior Y7000P was 88 frames.
The average frame of Tianxuan 4 Sharp Dragon Edition was only 76 frames, and the gap was still quite large.
The actual test basically met the gap between theoretical performance and performance. Except for the special case of Control, Y7000P had obvious advantages in all other projects. Moreover, the higher the number of frames, the more obvious the advantage of the game. The gold content of 24MB super slow was also mainly reflected here.
Creative production of course, equipped with this powerful processor of the game, but also often carry some modeling rendering, video editing such tasks. So we also tested BenchMark for creative software, to see which one is better suited for creative production work, i7- 13700H versus R9- 7940H.
The first is V-Ray, which represents modeling rendering work. The i7- 13700H scored 13375 points in this project, which was quite outstanding.
The R9- 7940H of Tianxuan 4 Sharp Dragon Edition scored 12910 points, and its performance was also very good. The single-core i7- 13700H was still slightly inferior.
In Blender, another popular rendering software, the Y7000P scored 125 points, 79 points and 53 points, respectively.
As a comparison, Tianxuan 4 sharp dragon version scores 115 points, 74 points and 59 points respectively, and Y7000P can be said to be basically on the same level.
In the field of video editing, the author tested the commonly used editing software Pr. The actual score of the Savior Y7000P was 738 points. Thanks to Xe's powerful video codec capabilities, Intel's core display can assist in video editing alone, bringing a smoother video playback and export experience. Therefore, the author suggests that if you don't play games, turn off the notebook's stand-alone direct connection function and let the nuclear display also participate in the work.
On the other hand, although the nuclear display performance of 780M is twice that of Xe nuclear display, it is still slightly inferior in the field of video codec, with a measured Pr score of 629 points.
Finally, we tested CrossMark, which represents overall office performance. The Savior Y7000P received a total score of 2011 in this, and the response speed of daily office production was extremely fast.
Tianxuan 4 Sharp Dragon Edition scored 1817 points, which can also meet all daily office needs, but it is still slightly worse than the Y7000P equipped with i7- 13700H.
