CTOnews.com June 12 news, Taiwan's "Economic Daily" news, the industry reported that Nvidia increased the number of AI chips, TSMC advanced process capacity utilization recently increased significantly, 5nm capacity utilization increased from more than 50% to about 70%; 7nm capacity utilization is also from the original only 30% to 40% low, gradually pulled up to about 50%.

TSMC does not comment on dynamic rumors related to capacity utilization. According to the data previously disclosed by TSMC, the 5nm and 7nm processes contributed a total of about 50% in the first quarter of this year, which is the main source of revenue. With the simultaneous improvement of the capacity utilization of these two advanced processes, the legal person is optimistic that it will be of considerable positive help to TSMC's follow-up revenue.

People in the industry pointed out that the monthly production capacity of TSMC's 5nm process is about 130,000 pieces. Before, the capacity utilization rate was estimated to have dropped to more than 50%. Recently, it began to heat up. At present, the monthly production volume is estimated to be more than 90,000 to more than 100000 pieces, and the conversion capacity utilization rate has risen to about 70 to 80%, which is faster than originally expected by the market. It is mainly due to the fact that the big customer Nvidia has increased the order of TSMC in response to market demand. The relevant films should be released gradually from the July meeting.

In terms of 7nm process, TSMC's related capacity utilization is not as good as 5nm. The supply chain believes that TSMC's 7nm capacity utilization may have dropped to only 30% to 40% in the past few months, but it has now returned to about 50%.

In addition, with regard to TSMC's most advanced 3nm process, industry insiders mentioned that at present, the most important customer is still Apple, which mainly produces the latest A-series processors equipped with the upcoming high-end iPhone 15 new machine, and other customers may not release films until later.

TSMC previously said that due to customer demand for its 3nm process exceeds supply capacity, the 3nm process is expected to be fully loaded this year and contribute a lot of revenue from the third quarter, and the N3E process will be mass produced in the second half of the year.

CTOnews.com noted that TSMC Chairman Liu Deyin said a few days ago that the company's performance may show a little negative growth this year because of the industrial inventory adjustment period, but the outlook is still very bright and is ready for the next wave of good growth next year.
