CTOnews.com, June 11 (Xinhua) according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Ford Motor applied for recalls of 125322 Escape 2020-2023, 2022-2023 Maverick pickup trucks and 2021-2023 Corsair vehicles to cope with the fire risk caused by engine failure.

CTOnews.com learned from the announcement that Ford's recalled vehicles were equipped with 2.5L HEV / PHEV engines, and that engine oil and fuel steam could be released into the engine compartment and gathered near ignition sources such as hot engines or exhaust components, which could cause a fire in the engine compartment, partial melting of parts or smoke.

Ford advises customers to stop and turn off the engine safely as soon as possible when they hear engine noise, lose power, or see smoke.

The recall affected 86656 Ruijing, 35501 Maverick pickup trucks and 3165 Corsair vehicles. Ford will start notifying car owners on June 12, and the remedy is expected to be announced in the third quarter.
