In a statement, NHTSA warned that the recalled Bugatti Chiron had installed the wrong wheels, which the company's technicians believed could destabilize the vehicle and cause safety risks in specific modes such as "Top Speed". According to reports, after the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport enters Top Speed mode with the second key, the vehicle will adjust its rear wing and suspension system to increase the downforce to make the vehicle more stable at high speed.

An American user chose the wheels, and his car was the only Bugatti Chiron affected by the recall.
