Mat Piscatella, executive director and analyst of Circana, an industry analyst specializing in video games, posted the figures on Twitter on June 9. According to Circana's PlayerPulse, a monthly study that tracks consumer awareness and participation, 47 per cent of console gamers, 50 per cent of PC gamers and 54 per cent of mobile gamers in the US so far in 2023 are women, and all three are up 1 per cent from last year.

Piscatella also revealed the rate of female ownership of various game consoles in the United States. According to Circana's monthly analysis and survey, 41% of PS5 and 45% of Xbox Series X / S in the United States are owned by women, while Switch is as high as 52%.

However, this figure has been opposed and ridiculed by some male players. In Piscatella's Twitter comment section, some people questioned the authenticity of the data, some thought it was because mothers bought game consoles for their sons (CTOnews.com Note: Piscatella clarified in subsequent tweets that this is not how the data was collected), while others made fun of female players, saying they were "fake players" and only played "Sims" or mobile games.

These comments are not only wrong, but also reveal that these male players have little contact with real women or the real world.
