Password sharing means that a user subscribes to Netflix's service and then shares his account and password with others, thus saving money. Netflix's policy also caused some users to unsubscribe, but the number of unsubscriptions did not exceed the number of new registrations. Antenna said that since May 23, the proportion of Netflix registrations and unsubscriptions has increased by 25.6% over the previous 60 days.

Netflix says the company's revenue and user base have increased after password-sharing restrictions were implemented in other countries. Netflix now requires users to determine a primary address and can only use accounts within that address. There are certain permits for travel or second home, but Netflix now uses IP addresses and other information to restrict multi-family use.

Netflix also offers some payment options that allow users to use the service at different addresses. Users can pay an extra $7.99 a month for another person to use the standard or premium package (Standard or Premium), and up to two people can be added (premium package only), each with their own profile, personalized recommendation and password. In addition, Netflix also provides a process for transferring personal data so that people who previously used Netflix for free can create their own paid accounts.
