CTOnews.com, June 9 (Xinhua)-Japan's Coca-Cola bottling Company (CCBJI) announced on June 7 that it will launch a new QR code payment service on vending machines across Japan, which will support 15 payment channels, including Wechat, Alipay and UnionPay.

▲ Tupu CCBJI currently has launched the service in 35 prefectures, one prefecture and two prefectures in Japan. CCBJI plans to access the service on 50,000 vending machines within 2023.

CCBJI said that with the recovery of the global economy after the epidemic, overseas visitors to Japan are expected to continue to increase, especially from East Asia, where code-scanning payments are relatively popular. CCBJI believes it is necessary to introduce a more convenient code-scanning payment service to promote overseas tourists' spending on Coca-Cola vending machines.

Previously, in Japan, users could only scan the code through CCBJI's vending machine App "Coke On", but the service only supported common payment channels in Japan, such as PayPay and Suica.
