CTOnews.com June 8 news, according to CCTV reports, Istanbul airport line subway localization manufacturing project commencement ceremony was held yesterday in Ankara, Turkey. Istanbul Airport Line is an important transportation link connecting the airport and the city center. It is also Turkey's first high-speed subway line. It has been opened for 34 kilometers and its daily traffic volume can reach 800,000 passengers.

According to reports, this is China's first 120 km/h driverless subway project started overseas, but also Turkey's first driverless subway project, marking Turkey's fastest subway train localization manufacturing.

The Istanbul Airport Line Metro train was developed by a Chinese company and uses a four-car train with a maximum passenger capacity of 1100.

It is worth mentioning that the first phase of 10 trains (40 vehicles) of this line was put into operation on January 22,2023, built by China CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd., with a speed of 120km/h; the subsequent second phase is the localization manufacturing project of driverless subway, with a total of 15 trains (60 vehicles).

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the opening ceremony when the first phase of the metro opened: "This metro line with a daily capacity of 800,000 passengers will allow to travel from Kagithane Station to Istanbul Airport in 24 minutes. "

According to CRRC, the 34-kilometer subway line has the fastest trains in Turkey and the vehicles running the line are China's first 120 km/h autonomous subway project for overseas markets. The contract involves 176 metro cars and requires a localization rate of 60% in Turkey.

Turkey's Ministry of Transport previously said that in the next 30 years, this subway line will save Turkey about 3.01 million US dollars (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 21.461 million yuan), which will greatly reduce road maintenance costs, reduce air pollution and save people's travel time.
