CTOnews.com, June 8, according to Tom's Hardware, Seagate this week revealed the latest mechanical hard drive route plan, saying that its last PMR (perpendicular magnetic recording) mechanical hard drive is 24TB, and the first HAMR (thermally assisted magnetic recording) hard drive will have the capacity of 32TB.
According to reports, Seagate is expected to launch a 24TB PMR hard drive within a few months, and there may be a 28TB SMR hard drive after that.
Seagate's first HAMR HDD will use 10 3.2TB disks, so it can provide the capacity of 32TB. After that, Seagate's HAMR hard drive will have the capacity of 36TB and use 3.6TB 's disk. In the future, Seagate will use 4TB disks to build 40TB AMR hard drives. In addition, Seagate Labs already has 5TB disks to build 50TB hard drives.
According to CTOnews.com 's previous report, Seagate launched the IronWolf Pro 22TB model overseas in April this year, but it is not yet available in China. The IronWolf Pro 22TB uses the traditional 3.5in format and is equipped with a SATA III interface. It uses 10 disks and 20 read heads internally, operates at 7200 rpm, has a cache of 512 MB, and provides a data transfer speed of up to 285 MB/s.
