▲ Tuyuan court document Onur Aksoy pleaded guilty that "between 2014 and 2022, he imported waste low-end Cisco equipment from mainland China and Hong Kong that had been reduced to foreign waste, refurbished them into new high-end versions, and sold them to unwitting buyers through a series of parcels set up".

According to court documents, Onur Aksoy opened 19 companies, 15 Amazon stores and 10 eBay stores, and copied Cisco packaging, instructions, and installed pirated Cisco software and sub-factory hardware through various channels to make the "refurbished junk" look like "new factory-made regular distribution equipment."

Cisco already has evidence that Onur Aksoy sells counterfeit products, and between 2014 and 2019, Cisco sent Onur Aksoy seven letters from lawyers asking him to stop making and selling these fakes. Onur Aksoy provided fake documents to Cisco, claiming that it was no longer involved in these businesses. In January 2021, police searched Onur Aksoy's warehouse and seized 1156 fake Cisco equipment with retail value.

After inquiry, CTOnews.com learned that Onur Aksoy has pleaded guilty to "conspiring with others to trafficking in counterfeit goods", "mail fraud" and "wire transfer fraud". He will be sentenced on June 15 and face four to seven years in prison.
