CTOnews.com June 8 news, the UK's OnlyAccounts.io subscription service provider recently released a report predicting that global subscription-based streaming revenue (SVOD) in 2023 is estimated to be $95.3 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 679.489 billion yuan), an 18% year-on-year increase in 2027 estimated to reach $137 billion (currently about 976.81 billion yuan), and a further 73% growth.

According to the report, the number of subscription-based streaming worldwide was 610 million in 2017 and reached 1.16 billion in 2022, and it is expected that streaming will continue to surpass other MIMO market segments in the future.

Global revenue from subscription-based streaming has almost tripled since 2017 and will exceed $80 billion by 2022, according to Statista Market Insights.

During this period, physical sales fell by nearly 30%, while digital pay-per-view and paid downloads grew much slower than streaming.

Nearly 65 per cent of SVOD's total revenue comes from just three countries, according to Statista. The United States, as the world's largest SVOD market, will generate $39.2 billion in revenue this year and will continue to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 8.6% between 2023 and 2027, with an estimated market size of $54.6 billion.

The Chinese market, as the second largest market in the world, grew by an average of 10.1% during this period. SVOD revenue increased from US $19.4 billion to US $28.5 billion. The UK is not far behind, with revenues approaching $5.5 billion by 2027, with a four-year compound annual growth rate of 8.9 per cent.
