CTOnews.com, June 7 (Xinhua)-- the Volvo EX30 is the brand's smallest SUV and electric vehicle to date, the brand's first advanced ultra-compact SUV and the fourth all-electric model, and a low-cost alternative to the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge electric SUV.

The model is priced at $34950 in the United States (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 249000 yuan) and about 36000 euros in Europe (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 274000 yuan).

The Volvo EX30 is 4233 mm long, 1837 mm wide, 1555 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2650 mm and a complete weight of 1830 kg. Volvo says the EX30 chassis has been adjusted to take advantage of the model's compact size, low center of gravity and relatively low and evenly distributed weight.

The new car features similar designs to the EX90, such as enclosed grille, Thor Hammer headlights, split taillights and a very similar dashboard layout.

In terms of interior, the new car features a 12.3-inch single-screen infotainment system with strip speakers on one side of the dashboard below the windshield-for the first time in the car.

Volvo said it had worked with technology partners such as Google, Apple and Qualcomm to provide the best experience for users and worked closely with ECARX through its jointly owned HaleyTek software joint venture to provide it with "the best infotainment platform" customers. In addition, EX30 will receive software updates wirelessly.

The new car offers digital car keys compatible with all mobile phone brands and models, a dedicated App for all car-related services (charging, positioning, locking / unlocking and heating), and the latest generation of parking aids that are said to handle all types of parking spaces, including parallel, curved, vertical and diagonal fishbones.

In terms of power, the car is available in the United States in two versions, known as the single-motor long-range version and the dual-motor performance version, which has a rated power of 268 horsepower (200kW) and 343N ·m torque, and uses a rear motor and 64kWh battery for a range of 275km (CTOnews.com Note: about 442.57 km).

The dual-motor performance version adds a front motor for all-wheel drive, with a total output power of 422 horsepower (315 kilowatts) and a torque of 543 Nm, which is enough to accelerate 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds, making it the fastest production model Volvo has ever had.

The dual-motor model also uses a 64-kilowatt-hour NMC battery and is estimated to provide a range of about 265 miles (CTOnews.com Note: about 426.48 km).

In Europe and other markets, Volvo will also offer entry-level single-motor versions, with 268hp rear motors and 49 kWh LFP batteries, with an estimated mileage of about 200km (CTOnews.com Note: about 321.87 km).

In terms of charging, the NMC battery-powered model has a DC charging peak power of 153 kW and can achieve a charging cycle of 10-80% in a little more than 26.5 minutes, while the LFP battery version has a charging power of 134 kW and takes 26 minutes to complete the same charging cycle.

According to reports, Volvo will start taking orders in 2024 and production is expected to start later that year.
