CTOnews.com, June 7 (Xinhua) according to the Yomiuri Shimbun, a survey conducted by a Japanese employment information company shows that nearly 20 percent of undergraduates and graduate students who will graduate next spring will use generative AI (such as ChatGPT) in the job search process.

▲ Picture Source Pexels the survey was conducted in May and collected a total of 5062 valid questionnaires, of which 39.2% of the students said they had used generative AI, while 18.4% admitted to using them to find a job.

When asked about their willingness to use generative AI to apply for jobs, 34.8% of students said they were willing to use it, while 37.8% said they were unwilling to use it. A liberal arts boy who is willing to use the generative AI to apply for a job said that the generative AI is very convenient to fill out the interview application form. Another liberal arts girl said that she likes to use generative AI to compare her strengths and weaknesses with her competitors, or to think about what questions to ask the interviewer during the interview, which are more efficient than studying behind closed doors.

A liberal arts girl who is reluctant to use generative AI to apply for a job said that the security of such products is worrying and that her information may be at risk of being used by others. Another science boy believes that AI does not fully reflect his experiences and ideas, and is worried that the content it generates will make his resume mediocre.

CTOnews.com previously reported that a survey of 20-59-year-olds in Japan showed that more than 80% of Japanese young people were worried that their jobs would be taken away by generative AI. However, the well-intentioned view that "generative AI will help work" is still in the majority.
