Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, June 7 (Xinhua)-- according to the official WeChat release of TechInsights, the forecast shows that global smartphone shipments will continue to contract in 2023. Compared with the version released in March 2023, TechInsights will reduce smartphone shipments in 2023 from 1.1881 billion to 1.16 billion (CTOnews.com note: data reduction of 23.3 million), down 2.8% from 1.2 billion in 2022. The reopened Chinese market is a mixed blessing, and continued geopolitical tensions and macroeconomic headwinds will continue to weigh on the global smartphone market in 2023 and 2024.
Smartphone shipments fell in all regions except Africa and the Middle East in 2023, according to the new report. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for the largest share (a reduction of 10.5 million between the two versions), mainly due to mixed demand after China's reopening, chronic geopolitical tensions and macroeconomic uncertainty.
At the same time, due to the protracted conflict between Russia and Ukraine, TechInsights also cut its smartphone shipment forecast for Central and Eastern Europe by 8.1 million to 59.2 million units in 2023, from 67.3 million in March.
In addition, due to macroeconomic headwinds, North American smartphone shipments fell by 5.6 million to 125.1 million in 2023 from the 1.307 billion forecast in March. Adjustments in Western Europe and Central Latin America remained moderate between the two versions.
Taking into account the controllable earthquake in Turkey and the slow increase in food prices in 2023 (compared with 2022), TechInsights raised its forecast for Africa and the Middle East by 2.6 million to 135 million in its latest forecast, up from 132.4 million in March.
Taking into account these disadvantages and uncertainties, TechInsights also lowered its global smartphone shipments forecast for 2024 (from 12.285 billion in the previous version to 11.2114 billion in the latest version).
Tuyuan PexelsTechInsights expects Samsung and Apple to continue to lead the global smartphone market, followed by Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, OPPO (including one plus), vivo, Voice, Glory, realme, Lenovo Motorola and Huawei. Google Pixel phones and Nokia HDM phones, which are not in the top 10, are expected to maintain steady growth over the next two years.
