Boeing also had to rework some of its best-selling 737 Max aircraft this year because of problems with the rear fuselage of some aircraft, which are made by Spirit Aerosystems.

Boeing shares fell sharply on news of the latest defect, but then slowly recovered, closing down 0.7% at $207.29 on Tuesday.
