The "people" photo album in the previous photo app has now become a "people and pets" photo album because the photo app has been able to detect animals. If you only have one or two pictures of certain animals, they will not appear in this album, but if you have multiple pictures of the same animal, you will see the pet in the album. You can add a name to your pet and confirm other photos. In this album, you can see all the pictures of this animal you have taken, and you can see special memories of this pet in the "recommend for you" column.

CTOnews.com notes that the pet recognition function seems to be accurate enough to distinguish between different animals of the same color, such as two white cats, two orange cats and two tabby cats, without error, and the application can better identify specific species.

Apple has also added Visual Look Up (visual search) to iOS 17's photo app to provide recipes for similar dishes and information when a picture theme is removed from the background, and Visual Look Up now supports video.
