CTOnews.com, June 7 (Xinhua)-- Apple has acquired Mira, an augmented reality startup based in Los Angeles, which supplies head display devices to other companies and the US military, and Apple confirmed the acquisition, according to The Verge.

Apple just unveiled Vision Pro, a $3499 hybrid reality show, yesterday. Apple called Vision Pro a new "space" computing platform. It's not clear how much Apple paid for Mira, but Mira is said to have raised about $17 million (CTOnews.com Note: about 121 million yuan currently). Jonathan Ive, Apple's former design director, used to be a consultant to Mira, according to two former employees who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Apple issued its usual acquisition statement: "Apple sometimes buys small technology companies, and we don't usually discuss our goals or plans." It is not clear whether Apple will continue the Mira military contract, but based on the way Apple operates, that is highly unlikely. Mira's military contract includes a small agreement with the U.S. Air Force and a $702351 agreement with the Navy.

According to Mira's website, "Mira provides the market with the most scalable augmented reality hardware and software solutions, providing front-line employees with the communication tools and information they need most." Mira's other big contract is with Nintendo World, whose theme parks use its Mira headlines to add interaction to Mario racing games in Japan and Universal Studios in Los Angeles. The head display of Mira can display virtual characters and objects in the game, making visitors feel the charm of augmented reality technology in the process of experience.

According to a private post posted by Mira CEO Ben Taft on Instagram, at least 11 Mira employees have joined Apple as part of the acquisition, displaying some employee badges and writing in the headline: "I'm glad to see Mira moving on to the next chapter, in Apple:)." He also wrote, "A seven-year journey from dormitory to acquisition."
