Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Xiao Zhan cut, West window old clues delivery! CTOnews.com, June 6-Panasonic plans to increase electric vehicle battery production at its plant in Nevada with Tesla by 10% by March 2026, a Panasonic spokesman said. Panasonic Energy will install the 15th production line at the Nevada superplant.

Panasonic said last month that it plans to build at least two new plants in North America to produce Tesla 4680 battery units by 2030. Through this move, it seeks to increase its car battery capacity to 200 gigawatt hours a year by March 2031, about four times the level at the end of March this year.

▲ Touyuan: Panasonic currently operates a battery manufacturing superfactory in Nevada with Tesla and is building a second superfactory in de Soto, Kansas. Earlier this month, Panasonic CEO only spoke at the company's annual business strategy meeting yesterday and confirmed that Panasonic will build a third electric vehicle battery factory in the United States.

Panasonic has previously said it will spend 700 billion yen (CTOnews.com Note: about 35.77 billion yuan) on equipment investment this year, and more than half of that money will be spent on the expansion of the de Soto plant, which is expected to start production in 2024.

In fact, it emerged last year that Panasonic would build a third battery plant in the United States, saying it would be located in Kansas or Oklahoma. Only Xin Shengsheng did not announce a specific site yesterday, but said it would be announced before March 2024, and several alternative sites are being considered. However, given that a second battery plant has been settled in Kansas, there are rumors that a third plant will break ground in Oklahoma.

Panasonic is planning a massive increase in battery production for electric vehicles in the near future, tripling production and increasing the energy density of batteries by 25% by 2030.

As for the capacity of the third battery plant, only Shinsheng said it would have an annual 30GWh capacity, which is lower than the current 40GWh capacity of the Nevada superplant, but higher than the Arizona plant of LG New Energy, and tied with Panasonic's Kansas plant for second place in North America.

Tesla currently uses Panasonic 2170 batteries in his electric vehicles, while Lucid announced late last year that it would use Panasonic batteries in its Air sedan and the upcoming Gravity SUV.
