CTOnews.com news on June 6, information shows that a new court notice has been added to the reputation dispute between Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Zhang. The defendant is Zhang. The case opened at 10:00 on June 6 in the Shanghai Qingpu District people's Court.

Zhang is a female car owner who shouted "brake failure" on the roof of Tesla at the Shanghai Auto Show Station in 2021. In September 2021, Tesla sued Ms. Zhang for infringing her reputation and claimed 5 million yuan, but the case never went to trial. It is reported that the trial has been suspended since the case was filed in 2021.

It is reported that the cause of the incident was that Ms. Zhang's Tesla Model 3 had a traffic accident in Anyang City on February 21, 2021, and the traffic police held the driver fully responsible for the accident. Ms. Zhang did not accept the verdict, thinking that there was a problem of "brake failure" in Tesla vehicles, and went to Tesla Zhengzhou stores many times to protect their rights. On April 19, 2021, at the Shanghai Auto Show, Ms. Zhang stood on the roof of a vehicle at Tesla's booth and shouted "Tesla's brakes failed", which aroused widespread public concern. Subsequently, Ms. Zhang was placed in administrative detention for five days for disturbing public order.

CTOnews.com noted that during this period, Ms. Zhang also filed two lawsuits with the people's Court of Beiguan District, Anyang City, accusing Tesla Company and its Vice President Tao Lin of violating her right to personal reputation and privacy and demanding an apology and compensation for economic losses. However, the court issued a first-instance judgment on the two cases on May 26 this year, both of which rejected Ms. Zhang's claim, finding that Tesla did not infringe upon Ms. Zhang's right to reputation and privacy.

With regard to the counterclaim filed by Tesla, Ms. Zhang said in an interview on May 4 that after two years, she needed to readjust the lawyers who followed the case, all of which took time to prepare and would communicate with the judge for an extension, but would actively respond to the lawsuit.
