CTOnews.com, June 6 (Xinhua)-- Apple officially released its iOS 17 system today. This update brings a major upgrade to the communications App, making it easier to share, smarter text input, and introducing Journal App and Standby functions, as well as many auxiliary features (barrier-free).

One of the new aids is called "Personal Voice", which helps users at risk of aphasia to create a voice similar to their own voice to communicate with others.

The personal Voice feature is already available in the iOS 17 beta, so developers can start testing it, which can be found in accessibility > personal Voice. The process of creating a "personal voice" takes about an hour and requires recording in a quiet place to make sure there is no background noise. Apple instructs users to speak naturally at the same volume, while placing the iPhone about 6 inches from the face.

If you are in a place where there is too much background noise, Apple will remind you that you need to find a quieter place to record.

Personal Voice requires you to read a series of sentences aloud, after which your iPhone will generate and store your personal Voice. Personal Voice can then be used in conjunction with the real-time voice feature, which helps users who are unable to speak read the text they enter when talking face-to-face, on the phone, or on a FaceTime call.

Personal Voice will be available to the public when Apple releases its first public beta version of iOS 17, which will be launched next month.

CTOnews.com noted that in addition to the "personal voice" and real-time voice functions, other new assistive features added to iOS 17 include Assistive Access, a customizable interface that makes it easier for people with cognitive impairment to read iPhone; finger words independently, helping blind and low-vision users to read text on physical objects pointed to by their devices.
