CTOnews.com IBM announced today that it plans to build its first European quantum data center in Eningen, Germany, to facilitate access to cutting-edge quantum computing capabilities by governments, businesses and institutions.

Expected to be operational by 2024, the data center will feature multiple IBM quantum computing systems, each equipped with utility-scale quantum processors, i.e. processors with more than 100 qubits.

In addition, the establishment of this data center also marks the completion of IBM Quantum Europe Cloud Region. This is to ensure that IBM complies with EU regulatory requirements and that all EU work data is processed within the EU. This is also the second quantum data center and quantum cloud area IBM has built globally after New York.

CTOnews.com consulted IBM's official website and learned that IBM currently has more than 60 quantum computing customers in Europe, including Bosch, the German Federal Defense University, the European Nuclear Research Center and Deutsche Telekom's T-Systems.
