Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, June 6, according to UPI, European Commission Vice President Vera Jourova announced on June 5 that the European Union has required technology platforms, including Google, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok, to detect pictures, videos and text generated by artificial intelligence (AI) and provide clear tags to users.
Pexels Jorova, a ▲ source, said it was part of the European Commission's efforts to crack down on false information: "Advanced chatbots like ChatGPT can create complex and seemingly fully proven content and visual effects in seconds; image generators can create real-looking pictures of events that have never happened before; and voice generation software can mimic human voices based on samples of a few seconds."
However, technology companies are not obliged to comply with the latest requirement from the European Union, as it is only part of a voluntary code of conduct. Some analysts believe that the implementation of this new regulation still faces technical obstacles, that is, at this stage, there is no technology that can quickly and effectively detect the content generated by AI, so most companies should only work on the basis of "best effort".
But Ms. Chorova said Google CEO Sandal Pichai (Sundar Pichai) had previously told her that Google was developing technology that could detect and tag AI-generated content in real time and was constantly improving.
In addition, Twitter is not on the list of required companies because Elon Musk announced his withdrawal from the voluntary code of conduct in May. Qiao Rowa said that by opting out, Twitter actually "chose confrontation." she also said that Twitter has attracted a lot of attention, and that its behavior and compliance with EU laws will be subject to strict and immediate scrutiny.
According to previous reports from CTOnews.com, the EU's Digital Services Act will come into effect on August 25 this year, when large online platforms, including Twitter, will have to comply with the legal obligation to censor content. Companies that violate the law will face fines of up to 6 per cent of global annual turnover and may even be banned from doing business in the EU.
