CTOnews.com, June 6, according to the latest report released by market research firm Canalys, global shipments of wearable wristband devices in the first quarter of 2023 were 41 million units, down 1% from the same period last year. The Indian market stood out, rising 122 per cent year-on-year, offsetting a 14 per cent annual decline worldwide.

Among them, the global basic bracelet market in this quarter was affected by manufacturers and consumers paying more attention to large-screen devices, with shipments of 7.5 million units, down 24% from the same period last year.

Global basic watches shipped 18 million units in the quarter, thanks to the pull of the Indian market, shipments increased 28 per cent year-on-year, while global smartwatch shipments fell 11 per cent to 15.8 million units in the quarter.

Apple's ecosystem, with strong consumer loyalty and comprehensive smartwatch features, continues to dominate the market. Although Apple's shipments fell 11% in the first quarter of 2023, it still has a 20% market share.

Xiaomi further boosted overall sales by adjusting its product mix last year, focusing its brand promotion strategy on mid-and high-end basic watches and introducing moderately priced basic bracelet devices and smartwatches.

Huawei and Samsung ranked third and fourth, respectively, suggesting that manufacturers committed to building a smartphone ecosystem also have a higher share of the bracelet market.

Fire Boltt, in fifth place, is in the top five for the first time and is the only non-smartphone maker of the top five, and only sells wearable wristbands in India. The brand achieved an astonishing growth of 198% with a wide range of product types and competitive prices.
