CTOnews.com June 5 news, Amazon will no longer provide its Luna cloud game service dedicated to Windows or Mac applications, the corresponding download link has been removed from the official website.

9to 5 Google received a statement from an Amazon spokesperson confirming that it will end offering apps for Windows and Mac. That said, Windows and Mac gamers will only be able to access Luna through a web browser:

We double down when we see that our customers like something. We have optimized the Web browser experience and brought all the features that the Luna desktop app offers to our users. So customers can have exactly the same Luna experience when using Luna on their Web browser.

We firmly believe in the future of cloud gaming and will retire the Luna PC and Mac apps so that we can invest more time and resources in innovation to better serve our Luna customers.

According to public sources, Amazon Luna was released in 2020 and offered dedicated Windows and Mac apps at the beginning of its release.

With the removal of PC and Mac apps, Amazon now only offers dedicated programs for its Fire TV smart TVs and streaming devices. All other platforms must be accessed through a Web browser, including smartphones.

The service starts at $9.99 a month (CTOnews.com notes: currently about 71 yuan) and allows users to play more than 100 games. Amazon Prime members get free access to a small number of games on the service.
