According to CTOnews.com news on June 5, according to foreign media BusinessKorea, the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA) said on the 4th that a total of 559733 electric vehicles were sold in 30 European countries in the first four months of this year, an increase of 37 percent over the same period last year. In the same period, European fuel vehicle sales were just 550391, down 0.5 per cent from a year earlier.

Figures show that electric car sales in Europe in 2019 (360164) were only 1/10 of fuel vehicle sales. However, just three years later, in 2022, the gap between the two sides narrowed to more than 60,000. For the whole of last year, 1637766 fuel vehicles were sold in Europe, compared with 1577079 electric vehicles.

Some analysts believe that the growth and decline of the two sales are largely due to a series of environmental laws issued by the European Union aimed at reducing carbon emissions, which have been speeding up consumers' choice of electric cars.

CTOnews.com has previously reported that the European Union has announced a plan to ban the sale of gasoline or diesel-fueled vehicles from 2035 unless they use relatively environmentally friendly carbon-neutral fuels. On the other hand, European governments are providing subsidies for electric vehicles, so automakers are actively promoting the sales of electric vehicles in Europe.
