Data show that from January to April 2023, the number of power batteries in the world of electric vehicles (EV, PHEV, HEV) was about 182.5GWh, an increase of 49.0% over the same period last year. Among them, BYD has achieved triple-digit growth compared with last year by virtue of the expansion of its domestic market share in China, ranking second on the list.

In this area, Chinese companies continue to take the lead. Ningde era continued to dominate the list by surpassing 65Gwh, up 55.6 per cent year-on-year. BYD has grown steadily in China through vertical SCM integration such as internal battery supply and vehicle manufacturing, and has also achieved explosive growth in other regions such as Europe and Asia, eventually reaching 29.4Gwh performance, up 108.3 per cent from a year earlier.

According to reports, the market share of the three major South Korean companies totaled 23.4%, down 2.8 percentage points from the same period last year, but increased in battery use.

Among them, LG New Energy ranked third with an annual growth rate of 49.3% (25.7GWh), SK-On ranked fifth with 5.3% (9.5GWh) growth, and Samsung SDI ranked seventh with 28.4% (7.5GWh) growth.
