CTOnews.com, June 5 (Xinhua) A few months ago, Microsoft launched Bing Chat, an artificial intelligence-based chat robot service that was then available only through Microsoft's own Edge browser. A few days ago, Mikhail Parakhin, head of Microsoft's advertising and web services department, said the company would try to get Bing chat to support third-party browsers from June. Now, this feature has begun to be available to some users.

This weekend, there was a post on Bing's Reddit page showing screenshots of Bing chat running in Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome browser. Today, foreign media Neowin asked Parakhin about the post on Twitter, and he also confirmed the news, saying, "We are conducting an experiment and will gradually launch it." So far, he has not disclosed which third-party browsers will be supported by Bing chat.

Letting Bing chat support other browsers should bring Microsoft a larger user base. According to the latest data from StatCounter, Edge is currently the third most popular browser, with a market share of 9.91%. Google Chrome is still far ahead, ranking first, with a market share of 66.02%. Apple's Safari ranks second, with a 12.79% market share.

Microsoft is likely to keep the number of users accessing Bing chat using Chrome and Safari browsers low to test their performance before deciding whether to open the feature to a wider range of users. CTOnews.com also noted that Microsoft confirmed earlier this week that it would raise the maximum number of daily chat rounds from 200 to 300 and the maximum number of rounds per session from 20 to 30. Microsoft has also expanded the use of Bing Picture Creator in Bing chat from creative mode to precise mode and balance mode. In addition, Bing celebrated its 14th birthday this weekend and officially launched on June 3, 2009.
